A landlord who assigns the reversion may apply for a release by serving a notice on the tenant either before or within four weeks beginning with the date of the assignment1. In the absence of a release under the statutory procedure the landlord will remain bound by the landlord covenants of the lease and will continue to be entitled to the benefit of the tenant covenants2. A tenant may object to the landlord's release by serving a notice on the landlord within four weeks beginning with the date of service of the landlord's notice3.
