Instructions which have been obtained through a referral by a third party, such as an estate agent or mortgage broker, must comply with the SRA Principles 2011 and the SRA Code of Conduct 20111. Any fee payable to the referrer must also comply with the SRA Code of Conduct 20112; in particular, the client must be informed of any financial or other interest which the introducer has in referring the client to the solicitor and of any relevant fee-sharing arrangements, and all financial arrangements must be in writing
