A carrier1 who has paid compensation pursuant to the CIV Rules or the CIM Rules2 has a rights of recourse against the carriers who have taken part in the carriage in accordance with the following provisions:
(1) the carrier who has caused the loss or damage is solely liable for it3;
(2) when the loss or damage has been caused by several carriers each is liable for the loss or damage he has caused4; and
