631. Proceedings involving successive carriers.

Proceedings in respect of loss, damage or delay may be brought only against the first carrier1, the last carrier2 or the carrier in possession of the goods when the loss, damage or delay occurred3. All the carriers who are liable to pay compensation may be joined as defendants in one claim4.

A carrier who has paid compensation5 in compliance with the provisions of the CMR Convention6 is entitled to recover such compensation, together with interest and all costs and expenses incurred by reason of the claim, from the carrier responsible7 for the loss or damage8. When the loss or damage
