461. Liabilities of person who becomes lawful holder of transferable bill of lading.

Where a person becomes the lawful holder of a bill of lading1 and has transferred to and vested in him2 all rights of suit under the contract of carriage3 as if he had been a party to the contract and that person:


    (1)     takes or demands delivery4 from the carrier of any of the goods to which the bill of lading relates5;


    (2)     makes a claim6 under the contract of carriage against the carrier in respect of any of those goods7; or


    (3)     is a person who, at a time before those rights were vested in him, took or
