318. Fire on board ship.

The owner, part owner, charterer, manager or operator of a United Kingdom ship1 is not liable for any loss or damage where any property on board the ship is lost or damaged by reason of fire2 on board the ship3; but the liability of any such person for any loss or damage resulting from his personal act or omission, committed with the intent to cause such loss, or recklessly and with knowledge that such loss would probably result, is not so excluded4.
