172. Effect of written and printed terms in charterparty.

Most charterparties are made using printed forms or templates containing blank spaces intended to allow the parties to adapt them to their particular contract by writing in the necessary details. So far as possible, those terms of the charterparty which are in print1 are to be treated as forming the contract equally with those which are in writing2. The courts nevertheless take into account the fact that the printed terms are printed for general use and not in contemplation of any particular case
