On payment of an agreed surcharge, the sender may declare in the consignment note a value of the goods in excess of a specified limit1, in which case the limit of the carrier's liability is the declared value for the purpose of calculation of the value of the goods in cases of loss or damage, and not the specified limit2. Similarly, the sender may fix the amount of a special interest in delivery in the case of loss or damage or of the agreed time limit being exceeded, by entering that amount in the consignment note
