Compensation which is payable by the carrier for total or partial loss of, or damage to, goods is calculated by reference to the value at the time and place at which they were accepted for carriage1. Unless there has been a declaration of value or special interest in delivery of the goods2, there is a limitation on the carrier's liability in the case of loss or damage3.
