669. Compensation for loss.

In case of total or partial1 loss of the goods, the carrier2 must pay, to the exclusion of all other damages, compensation calculated:


    (1)     according to the commodity exchange quotation3; or


    (2)     if there is no such quotation, according to the current market price4; or


    (3)     if there is neither such quotation nor such price, according to the usual value of goods of the same kind and quality on the day and at the place where the goods were taken over5.
