The carrier of goods1 is liable for loss or damage resulting from the total or partial loss of, or damage to, the goods between the time of taking over of the goods and the time of delivery and for the loss or damage resulting from the transit period being exceeded, whatever the railway infrastructure used2. This includes liability for wastage in transit3. The carrier will, however, be relieved of his liability:
