491. Application of Hague-Visby Rules to British possessions.

The Carriage of Goods by Sea Act 1971 (and therefore the applicability of the Hague-Visby Rules1) has been extended2, subject to certain exceptions, adaptations and modifications, to Bermuda, the British Antarctic Territory, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Falkland Islands and Dependencies, Montserrat and the Turks and Caicos Islands3.

Her Majesty may also by Order in Council4 provide for the statutory provisions relating to the application of the Hague-Visby Rules to the carriage of goods by sea in ships where the port of shipment is a port in the United Kingdom, whether or not the carriage is between
