53.     Air transport licensing.

No aircraft registered in the United Kingdom1 or in a relevant overseas territory2 may be used on any flight for the purpose of public transport, unless the operator holds an air transport licence granted by the Civil Aviation Authority authorising that flight and the terms of the licence are observed3.
