An approved inspector must have no professional or financial interest in the work he supervises unless it is minor work1. 'Minor work' means:
(1) the material alteration2 or extension of a dwelling-house3 which before the work is carried out4 has two storeys5 or less and which afterwards has no more than three storeys6; or
(2) the provision, extension or material alteration of a controlled service or fitting7 in or in connection with any building8; or
(3) work consisting of the underpinning of a building9.
A person is to be regarded as having a professional or financial interest in the work
