Generally, if a person contravenes1 any provision contained in building regulations2, he is liable on summary conviction to a fine3 and also to a further fine for each day on which the default continues after he is convicted4. Certain provisions of building regulations have been designated as ones to which this general rule does not apply5.
An information relating to such an offence6 may be tried by a magistrates' court if it is laid at any time within the period of two years beginning with the day on which the offence was committed, and within the period of six months
