Building regulations contain energy efficiency requirements1 which apply to the erection of any building2 which:
(1) is a roofed construction having walls3;
(2) uses energy to condition the indoor climate4; and
(3) does not fall within one or more of the following categories5:
(a) buildings which are:
(i) listed buildings6;
(ii) buildings in a conservation area7; or
(iii) buildings included in the schedule of monuments8, where compliance with the energy efficiency requirements would unacceptably alter their character or appearance9;
