In 1999 the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment ('CABE') replaced the Royal Fine Art Commission which had been established in 19241 to influence the quality of public design and architecture2.
In 2011 the CABE was merged with the Design Council and a subsidiary organisation was formed, the Design Council Cabe3. The Design Council Cabe provides independent and expert design consultation to professionals in the built environment4.
