A person born in the United Kingdom1 on or after 1 January 19832 who does not automatically acquire British citizenship by birth3 is entitled4 to be registered as a British citizen if:
(1) while he is a minor5, an application for his registration as a British citizen is made on the ground that his father or mother6 has become a British citizen or has become settled in the United Kingdom7; or
