A person born in a British overseas territory1 on or after 1 January 19832 is a British overseas territories citizen3 if at the time of the birth his father or mother4 is a British overseas territories citizen or is settled in a British overseas territory5. There is a rebuttable presumption that a new-born infant found abandoned in a British overseas territory fulfils these qualifications6.
