There are several means by which a British national (overseas) may be able to acquire British citizenship1 by registration. Firstly, a British national (overseas) is entitled2, on application3, to be registered as a British citizen if he satisfies the statutory requirements as to residence in the United Kingdom4. Secondly, the Secretary of State5 may, if he thinks fit, register as a British citizen any British national (overseas) who has at any time served in specified Crown service in a British overseas territory6
