A person is disqualified for being elected or being a member of a local authority if he is the subject of a bankruptcy restrictions order or an interim bankruptcy restrictions order1, or a debt relief restrictions order or interim debt relief restrictions order2.
A person who is made bankrupt is disqualified for being elected to or holding the office of Lord Mayor, alderman or common councilman of the City of London3; and such disqualification ceases on his discharge from bankruptcy or, if the bankruptcy order is previously annulled, on the date of its annulment4.
