36. Functions and status of official receiver.

The primary function of the official receiver is to act as receiver and manager of the bankrupt's estate1 pending the vesting of the estate in the trustee2 and to carry out an investigation into the conduct and affairs of the bankrupt with a report of such investigation to the court if he thinks fit3. The official receiver has a number of functions conferred on him by the Insolvency Act 1986 in relation to bankruptcy and personal insolvency4; and a person holding the office of official receiver5 is required to carry out such other functions as may from time to
