222.     Statutory regulation of pledges and pawns under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Articles taken in pawn1 under a regulated consumer credit agreement2 are subject to the regulatory provisions of the Consumer Credit Act 19743 (although those provisions do not apply to a pledge of documents of title or of bearer bonds4, or a non-commercial agreement5). The legislation makes provision for pawn-receipts6, the various offences that may arise under a contract of pawn7, the redemption period and procedure
