A claim in tort, including a claim in negligence or conversion or a claim under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977, must be brought within six years of the cause of action accruing1. In the case of a conversion, the limitation period begins to run from the date of the conversion, and, subject to fraud by the defendant2, this is so even where the owner does not become aware of the conversion until later
