734.     The Secretary of State.

Since the advent of aircraft, a succession of governmental or quasi-governmental bodies has been responsible for civil aviation1, but modern statutes conferring powers and duties in relation to civil aviation generally refer to the Secretary of State2. In practice, civil aviation functions are now exercised by the Secretary of State for Transport3. Certain aviation functions must be exercised in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Defence4.
