The Hague Convention1 on hijacking was signed in 1970, and is expressed to be for the suppression of unlawful seizure of aircraft. It defines the offence as the act committed by a person who, on board an aircraft in flight2, unlawfully by force or threat or any other form of intimidation, seizes or exercises control of that aircraft or attempts to perform any such act, or who is an accomplice of a person who performs or attempts to perform any such act
