The Civil Aviation (Investigation of Air Accidents and Incidents) Regulations 19961 apply only to civil aviation accidents2 and incidents3, and apply throughout the United Kingdom4. Separate provision is made in respect of the Isle of Man5 and the Channel Islands6.
The Civil Aviation (Investigation of Military Air Accidents at Civil Aerodromes) Regulations 20057 relate to accidents involving military aircraft in circumstances in which there is a civil element, and provide that where a military aircraft8 is involved in an accident9 arising out of or in the course of air navigation occurring in or over the United Kingdom and the Secretaries
