Where an accident1 or serious incident2 occurs in respect of which3 the Chief Inspector of Air Accidents4 is required to carry out, or to cause an inspector5 to carry out, an investigation, the relevant person6 and, in the case of an accident or serious incident occurring on or adjacent to an aerodrome, the aerodrome authority7 must give notice of it to the Chief Inspector by the quickest means of communication available and, in the case of an accident occurring in or over the United Kingdom, must also notify a police officer8 for the area where the accident occurred of
