Subject to certain exceptions1, a person who is not a British citizen2 may not enter the United Kingdom unless given leave to do so3 by an immigration officer4, who may examine persons who arrive in the United Kingdom by aircraft, including transit passengers, members of the crew and others not seeking entry5. The commander of the aircraft is required to furnish immigration officers with a passenger list and particulars of the crew6.
