The Secretary of State1 has made provision by regulations under the Civil Aviation Act 19492, for securing the safe custody and redelivery of any property which, while not in proper custody, is found on any premises belonging to him or under his control3. Since the passing of the Airports Act 1986, lost property is no longer the concern of the Secretary of State. It is for the airport operator to include in the airport byelaws4 the means to secure the safe custody and redelivery of lost property5.
