386. The Armed Forces and Reserve Forces Compensation Scheme.

The Armed Forces and Reserve Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) was introduced in 20051 and provides for the payment of benefit2 to or in respect of a member or former member of the forces3 by reason of an injury4 which is caused (wholly or partly) by service as a member of the forces where the cause of the injury occurred on or after 6 April 20055. Where injury is not wholly caused by service, benefit is only payable if service is the predominant6 cause of the injury7.

Benefit is payable under the scheme to or in respect of a former member
