299. Statements, declarations and evidence of birth on enlistment.

Any person who, on appearing before a recruitment officer and offering himself to be enlisted for service in the regular forces1, knowingly makes a false answer to any question approved by or on behalf of the Defence Council2 is guilty of an offence3. A person who commits such an offence is liable on conviction to punishment whether or not he enlists in the regular forces4.

A recruiting officer must not enlist a person under the age of 165, and any purported enlistment of a person under the age of 16 is void except if the recruiting officer enlisting him is
