The Royal Marines are a separate corps of the regular forces1 and their enlistment, terms of service and discharge are governed by the Armed Forces Act 20062. They are subject to service law in the same way as the other regular forces3. Defence Council regulations carry into effect the statutory provisions relating to enlistment, terms of service and related matters
