If the commanding officer1 determines that the charge has been proved2, he must record a finding that the charge has been proved3 and award one or more of the punishments authorised4 as being available to him5. They are as follows6:
(1) if the person being punished is of or below the rank of leading rate, lance corporal or lance bombardier, or corporal in any of Her Majesty's air forces7, detention for a period not exceeding the maximum allowed8;
(2) if the person being punished is an officer9 and the commanding officer has extended powers, forfeiture of a specified term
