All members of the reserve forces1 are liable to be called out for permanent service2 if it appears to Her Majesty that national danger is imminent or a great emergency has arisen3 or in the event of an actual or apprehended attack on the United Kingdom4. Members of the reserve forces are also liable to be called out if it appears to the Secretary of State5 that warlike operations are in preparation or progress6: the Secretary of State may also make an order authorising the calling out of members of a reserve force if it appears to him that
