226. Parliamentary candidature and local government office.

No member of the regular armed forces of the Crown1 may, by issuing an address to electors or in any other manner, announce himself or permit himself to be announced as a candidate or prospective candidate for election to Parliament for any constituency2. A member of the regular armed forces of the Crown is disqualified for membership of the House of Commons3, the Welsh Assembly4 and the Scottish Parliament5, but an officer on the retired or emergency list of any of the regular armed forces, or who holds an emergency commission in any of them or belongs to any
