319.     Origins and control.

The Royal Marine corps is regulated by the Armed Forces Act 2006 in common with the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force and those serving in the Royal Marines are subject to the disciplinary and other provisions of that statute1. The cost of maintaining the Royal Marines is charged in the naval estimates2 and their government and control is almost entirely in the hands of the Admiralty Board of the Defence Council3.
