For the purposes of the Armed Forces Act 2006, 'regular forces' means the Royal Navy1, the Royal Marines2, the regular army3 or the Royal Air Force4. The 'regular army' means any of Her Majesty's military forces5 other than the Regular Reserve6, the Army Reserve7 and forces raised under the law of a British overseas territory8. Certain persons no longer serving in the regular forces are regarded as being members of those forces in prescribed circumstances9. No alien may serve in any of the regular forces or any of Her Majesty's forces raised under the law of a British overseas
