216. Legislation for the reserve forces.

Generally1, all the reserve forces are raised and maintained under statute which, unlike the Armed Forces Act 2006, 2has permanent force until amended or repealed. The principal statute is the Reserve Forces Act 1996, 3which contain provisions affecting all the statutory reserve and auxiliary forces4. From the Reserve Forces Act 1996 is derived the power to maintain the Royal Fleet Reserve, the Royal Naval Reserve, the Royal Marines Reserve, the Regular Reserve, the Army Reserve, the Air Force Reserve and the Royal Auxiliary Air Force ('the reserve forces')
