309. Enlistment of ratings.

A person may be enlisted in the Royal Navy for a term beginning with the date of his enlistment and ending 12 years after that date1. Alternatively, a person may be enlisted for a term expiring on a date falling between six months and 11 years after the date of his enlistment2.
