Members of certain Commonwealth forces1 or forces of the Republic of Ireland2 may be attached temporarily to a home force3, or forces of specified territories4, if placed at the disposal of the Defence Council5 for that purpose6. Whilst so attached, they are subject to service law for the purposes of the Armed Forces Act 2006, 7and are treated, and have the like powers of command and punishment over members of the home force to which they are attached, as if they were members of that force of relative rank8.
