Where emergency regulations1 are made, a senior Minister of the Crown2 must lay the regulations before Parliament as soon as is reasonably practicable and the regulations lapse at the end of the period of seven days beginning with the date of laying unless during that period each House of Parliament passes a resolution approving them3.
