The Secretary of State may by notice1 served on any person2 require him to give certain information3. The information required must be information which the Secretary of State has reasonable cause to believe is or will be needed in connection with anything to be done for the purposes of the Chemical Weapons Convention4; and the information may relate to a state of affairs subsisting before the coming into force of the Chemical Weapons Act 1996 or of the convention5. A person on whom such a notice is served, and who knowingly makes a false or misleading statement in response
