It is a statutory offence1:
(1) for any person having British nationality2, within or without Her Majesty's dominions, to accept, or agree to accept, without Her Majesty's licence3, any commission or engagement in the military or naval service4 of any foreign state5 at war6 with any friendly state7;
(2) for anyone, whether having British nationality or not, within Her Majesty's dominions to induce any other person to accept, or agree to accept, any such commission or engagement8;
(3) for any person having British nationality, without Her Majesty's licence, to quit, or go on board any ship9 with a view
