171. Slaughter generally.

The welfare of animals which are to be slaughtered, the methods of slaughter, the conditions for slaughter and killing, and the conditions and requirements to be observed in slaughterhouses and knackers' yards are the subject of detailed regulation which is considered elsewhere in this work1.

The use of slaughter as a means to control or prevent the spread of disease, and the payment of compensation when such slaughter is carried out, are considered subsequently in this title
