456. Introduction.

'Veterinary surgery' means the art and science of veterinary surgery and medicine, and is taken to include:


    (1)     the diagnosis of diseases in and injuries to animals1, including tests performed on animals for diagnostic purposes;


    (2)     the giving of advice based upon such diagnosis;


    (3)     medical or surgical treatment of animals; and


    (4)     the performance of surgical operations on animals2.
