Although the requirement for persons dealing in game to hold licences has been abolished1, European legislation2 imposes obligations on food and feed business operators as to the traceability of, inter alia, food and food-producing animals3, which has an impact on persons selling game wholesale or retail. Food and feed business operators must be able to identify any person from whom they have been supplied with a food-producing animal, which includes game4. To this end, such operators must have in place systems and procedures which allow for this information to be made available to the competent authorities on demand
