297.     Exceptions to offences under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

A person is not guilty of an offence that protects a list of specified wild animals under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 19811 by reason of the taking of any wild animal if he shows that the animal had been disabled otherwise than by his unlawful act and was taken solely for the purpose of tending it and releasing it when no longer disabled2; by reason of the killing of any wild animal if he shows that the animal had been so seriously disabled otherwise
