When an animal has been slaughtered at the direction of the appropriate authority1, the carcase2 belongs to the authority and must be disposed of by the authority or as it directs, as the condition of the animal or carcase and other circumstances require or admit3. The appropriate authority may use for the burial of the carcase any suitable land in the possession or occupation of the animal's owner or any common or uninclosed land4. The appropriate authority may make orders5 regulating the destruction, burial, disposal or treatment of the carcases of animals slaughtered at his direction6, or of animals
