The placing on the market1 and the import to, or export2 from, the EU of cat and dog fur, and products containing such fur is prohibited3. Contravention of this prohibition is an offence4.
It is the duty of every weights and measures authority in Great Britain to enforce these provisions, except where goods are at any place subject to customs supervision5, in which case the duty falls to HMRC6. For the purposes of enforcement, an officer may at any reasonable hour and on production, if required, of evidence that he is an officer7:
(1) inspect any goods8;
